Note:In 1914, following the amalgamation of Northern and Southern Nigeria, the Nigerian Marine was formed as a quasi-military organization. It played a significant role in World War I, particularly in the campaign to capture Cameroon, and also carried out essential duties such as port administration, dredging, and maintaining inland waterways
