Educated at Merchant Taylors School (1908-13) & the University of London
Commissioned from London University O.T.C. into the 2nd (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment-T.F. 21/3/15
To France as 2nd Lieut, 1/2nd London Regt 4/4/15
On 15/9/16 his platoon attacked Loop Trench near Combles on the Somme & he suffered a severe Gun Shot Wound in his left arm
Admitted to No.34 Casualty Clearing Station 15/9/16
Subsequently his arm was amputated
Mentioned in Despatches by Sir Douglas Haig (MID LG 4/1/17)
Later served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force
Emigrated to Kenya & became the Assistant Resident District Commissioner of Mombasa, Kenya Colony in 1921
Appears to have been appointed O.B.E. prior to 1945 (albeit we have yet to find the Gazette date...)
Promoted Deputy Provincial Commissioner, Kenya 1/5/45
Died Mombasa Club, Mombasa, Kenya 20/3/69
