Born Athelstaneford, East Lothian 7/6/1896
Eldest Son of Rev W.B.Stevenson of Edinburgh & Grandson of A.J.D.Brown of Balloch Castle
Educated at Edinburgh Academy where he was a member of both the Rugby XV 1911-14 & the Cricket XI 1913-14
Was about to go up to University College, Oxford University when war was declared
Commissioned into the Princess Louise's (Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders) in October 1914
To France 1915 as Lieutenant, 11th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
Promoted Captain in January 1916
KIA F&F 16/5/16 at Hohenzollern Redoubt, Loos
Buried in Vermelles British Cemetery, France
Commemorated in the UK on St.Columbas Church War Memorial, Oxford & in Dean Cemetery, Queensferry Road Gate, Edinburgh - Click here
