Note: This Indian Cavalryman arrived in France as part of the 3rd (Ambala) Cavalry Brigade, 1st Indian Cavalry Division. He appears to have served at the Front with a small advance party of 30th Lancers (Gordon's Horse) - probably at Givenchy in November 1914 - in order to qualify for this 1914 Star. Most others in his unit were well out of the range of German guns at Camp les Groues, near Orleans in late November 1914 and thus earned the 1914/15 Star
