Charles Tait Thomas
Born Bristol, Gloucestershire 26/6/1893
Educated at Bristol Grammar School & was a served in the OTC for 2 years
To France with 1/1st North Somerset Yeomanry 2/11/14
Suffered severe shock when his little toe was crushed by a horse whilst on duty in France in 15/5/15
Invalided back to Blighty 17/5/15
His toe was subsequently amputated in June 1915
Commissioned 2nd Lieut into 4th (City of Bristol) Battalion, Gloucestershire Regt T.F. 21/7/15
Later promoted Lieut & was attached Eastern Command Depot
His leg was badly injured whilst he was driving a Motor Cycle on duty at Shoreham-by-Sea 20/16/18
Relinquished his commission on account of ill health 14/2/20
In the 1939 Register he was an Engineering Clerk at the Imperial Tobacco Company, living at 10 Clifton Park, Bristol
Died Bristol 1957
Now with 81 page Digital File of his Army Officers Papers (TNA Ref: WO 374/67834), plus copy of his Medal Index Card & supporting documentation
Condition: Mounted as Worn on old silk ribbons, with old copy 'Aug-Nov 1914' Clasp; Toned EF
