During the Battle of the Aisne (13-28 Sept 1914) he suffered a Gun Shot Wound in the thorax
Note: The 1st Northumberland Fusiliers were in the front line on the Aisne near Rouge Maison from 14/9/14. German snipers in the nearby wood were noted as causing high casualties until the wood was "cleared by maxim gun" 20/9/14
Admitted to 2nd General Hospital, Le Havre, France 20/9/14
Returned to Duty 7/10/14
Transferred to the 1st Garrison Battn, East Yorks Regt (20778)
Renumbered 77255 & returned to the Northumberland Fusiliers
Demobilised in accordance with KR Para 392 (xxviii)
With copy of his Medal Index Card, Medal Rolls, MH106 Medical Record & supporting documentation
