John Oscar ('Jack') Ekins
Born at St.Neots, Huntingdonshire 1887 & lived at Ricksmanworth, Hertfordshire
Attested 1907 and then served in India 1908-14
To France 7/11/14 with 2nd Rifle Brigade
Suffered frost bite in both feet & returned to Blighty 23/1/15
Treated at The London Hospital, Whitechapel until 24/2/15
Returned to the Western Front 1/6/15
KIA F&F 25/9/15 commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial
Note: Apparently Jack was struck by a shell on 25th September 1915 & his body was never recovered. A German soldier found his Princess Mary's 1914 Christmas Gift Tin on the battlefield and sent it to his sister after the war - click here
