A bootmaker in the local Boot & Shoe trade, he enlisted in the King's Royal Rifle Corps 16/8/06
To France 30/8/14 to serve with 2nd K.R.Rif.C. & qualified for the 'Aug-Nov 1914' Clasp
Note: The 2nd KRRC served in first Battle of Ypres. At Gheluvelt on 31/10/14 the survivors of 2nd KRRC, together with the 1st Scots Guards, 1st Queen's Regt, 1st South Wales Borderers & 2nd Welsh Regt - all told about 1,000 men - held 13 fresh German battalions at bay for over an hour
Horace may well have been wounded around this time since he returned to Blighty 17/11/14
Returned to France from 6/7/15 to 24/11/15
Then to Salonika in the Balkans with 4nd KRRC 25/11/15 to 15/7/16
To France & served with 17th KRRC 2/3/17 & then with 12th KRRC 13/3/17
Suffered with Gas Poisoning 12/7/18
Then transferred to the 107th Company, Labour Corps (572010) 24/8/18
Later moved to the 148th Labour Company, Labour Corps
Discharged to Class Z Army Reserve 21/3/19
