KIA F&F 31/10/14 during the First Battle of Ypres
Note: The 1st L.N.Lancs first withdrew to Hooge on 31/10/14 but then advanced again at 9.00am, taking part in a successful bayonet charge on German positions around Gheluvelt & inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy. However, this attack cost the 1st Battalion dear, with approximately 8 officer & 400 other rank casualties
Commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium
