First worked as a GPO Telegraph Messenger & Assistant Postman 1900-06
Also served as a member of the 1st Middlesex Volunteer Engineers
Enlisted in the South Wales Borderers 18/6/06
Married in 1906, apparently without the Army's permission, and thereafter he & his wife had a child & an 'interesting' relationship
Transferred to 15th Hussars 1/4/07
Tried by District Court Martial & sentenced to 84 days detention for striking a Superior Officer (etc)
To France 16/8/14 with 15th Hussars & qualified for the ‘Aug-Nov 1914’ Clasp
Severely wounded in his right thigh circa 17/11/14 near Hooge, during the First Battle of Ypres
To Blighty 20/11/14
Returned to France & was then gassed in May 1915
Later he deserted in Rouen whilst under orders for Active Service 8/10/15
Tried by District Court Martial, as sentenced to 4 months Imperial Hard Labour & sent to Wormwood Scrubbs prison 13/10/15
His sentence was commuted 25/1/16 & he returned to duty
He later served as S/9546, Army Ordnance Corps
Awarded the Belgian Croix de Guerre LG 15/4/18 & this was presented to him by GOC, Aldershot Command 11/8/18
Discharged 4/5/19 & was awarded the Silver War Badge
Re-enlisted 2/5/19 & then served in Russia with the Russian Relief Force from July-November 1919

With copy of his MIC, LG details of his Belgian Croix de Guerre, plus a large & interesting 89 page Digital File of his Soldiers Papers (some duplication)
