Tried by District Court Martial in Poona, India for striking his superior officer & was sentenced to 56 days Imperial Hard Labour
Later convicted in a British Civil Court of 'lodging out on a railway carriage' in Oldham 23/5/11 & was punished with 7 days hard labour
His Regimental Defaulters Sheet records multiple other crimes including gambling, insolence, AWOL & drunk on at least 5 occasions
To France 12/8/14 with 1st King's (Liverpool) Regiment & qualified for the Aug-Nov 1914 Clasp
KIA at Givenchy, France 10/3/15 on the First Day of the Battle of Neuve Chapelle
Commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, France
