David Rogerson Strang (his full name)
Born Dumbarton 14/7/1887
Son of William Strang RA & Agnes Strang (nee McSymon Rogerson)
Educated at University of Glasgow
To France 17/11/15 as Sergeant, 16th 'Public Schools' Battn, Middlesex Regiment
Commissioned 2nd Lieut, Royal Engineers 3/6/16
Later promoted Captain, but did not serve overseas as an officer
Note: In April 1918 he married Dorothy Bella Labbett, a soprano who performed at the London Palladium as 'Dora Labbette', but she left him 1920 & had a 13 year affair with Sir Thomas Beecham, co-founder of the London Philharmonic in 1932 & later the Royal Philharmonic
David Strang was a skilled printer of designs by artists & his works were in great demand during the etching revival of the 1920s
In 1939 he was an Artist (printer of etchings) living at 20 Hamilton Terrace, St John's Wood, London NW8
