First enlisted in the 14th Royal Warwickshire Regiment 'Birmingham Pals'
Commissioned into Prince Of Wales's Volunteers (South Lancashire Regiment) 28/12/14
To France 26/9/15 with 8th South Lancashire Regiment
Whilst in the line east of Neuville St.Vaast 'things soon became lively. On 29/3/16, after a heavy bombardment with trench mortars, the Germans exploded a mine under the trenches occupied by "C" Company... concussing 2nd Lieutenant S.G.T.Earle, burying 3 men, wounding Sergeant Duckhouse & 3 others'
Returned to Blighty with Neurasthenia (Shell Shock) & admitted to Queen Alexandra's Military Hospital At Millbank 5/5/16
Transferred to the Royal Free Hospital 10/6/16
Promoted Lieutenant 18/2/18
His home address in 1919 was The Oaklands, Penns Lane, Erdington, Birmingham
Later he moved to The Mount, Richmond Hill Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham
In September 1939 he was Managing Director of a Non Ferrous Metal Tube business living at 429 Hagley Road , Birmingham, Warwickshire
