During the Second Boer War he served with 4th Glouc.R. on St.Helena where he guarded Boer Prisoners of War 11/5/00 to 7/2/02
In WW1 he went to France 20/1/15 & served with 2nd Gloucestershire Regt
Hospitalised with rheumatism & returned to Blighty 15/5/15
Discharged 17/2/16
His Service Papers reveal that he re-enlisted as 9638 Gunner, RGA 2/8/16
Served back on the Western Front with 186th Siege Battery, RGA
KIA F&F 1/5/17 & was buried in the Bully-Grenay Communal Cemetery, British Extension
