Commissioned 2nd Lieut 29/11/15 & served with 12th Northumberland Fusiliers
Promoted Temporary Lieutenant
Awarded the Military Cross (MC LG 17/4/17): 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He led his platoon with great gallantry and repelled a hostile raiding party at a critical time. He set a splendid example to his men.'
Suffered a fatal Gun Shot Wound in his left thigh 6/6/17 near Achiet-le-Grand & was evacuated to Rouen on No.31 Ambulance Train
DOW 5 weeks later at No.8 General Hospital, Rouen 14/7/17
Buried in St. Sever Cemetery, Rouen, France
Commemorated in the UK on the Swan Hunter & Whigham Richardson Ltd WW1 Memorial at Wallsend, Tyne and Wear
Also commemorated on the family headstone in Christchurch Cemetery, Walker
