Son of Archibald Kerr Chalmers M.D. & Margaret Jessie Stewart Chalmers of 4 Grosvenor Terrace, Kelvinside, Glasgow
Educated at Glasgow Academy where he was a Sergeant-Bugler in the O.T.C.
To Emmanuel College, Cambridge University 1913 and read Natural Sciences (Medicine), but did not graduate
Commissioned into the Royal Field Artillery
To France 1/2/17
Served as Captain in 'C' Battery, 295th Brigade R.F.A.
Wounded in fighting around Polygon Wood during the 3rd Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele)
