Son of Arthur George William & Alice Lockyer Brooke, of 13 Colville Road, Leytonstone, London
To France 25/6/16 as 5162 PTE in the 1/23rd (County of London) Battalion, London Regt.
At 6.48am on 2/10/16 the 23rd Londons attacked Eaucourt L'Abbaye on the Somme and suffered 5 killed, 75 missing & 83 wounded - presumably including Brooke, as he was sent back to Blighty the following day 3/10/16
Commissioned Second Lieutenant, 7th Essex Regiment -T.F. 28/2/17
Returned to France & was attached 10th Essex Regt.
KIA F&F 12/4/18 in attack on Hangard Wood, south of Villers Brettoneux
Commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, France
His Officers Papers exist at TNA but we have not checked them Ref: WO 374/9378
Complete with the original inner crested envelope, waxed card plaque case & Buckingham Palace letter of condolence/bestowal
With copy of his MIC, ODGW & CWGC details plus extracts from 23rd London Regt History & 10th Essex History
