In 1915 'The Blinded Soldiers and Sailors Hostel' moved to St Dunstan's Lodge in Regent's Park, on loan from Regent's Park College (Bedford College). There, recently blinded soldiers - 'St Dunstaners' - could train in physiotherapy, shorthand typing, telephone operating, poultry farming, carpentry, basket/mat making & shoe repair. Braille was also taught and sport was key part of their rehabilitation, with rowing, swimming, walking races & tandem cycling. Its name changed to St Dunstan's in 1923.
