Scarce, original R.A.F. Medical Branch Collar Badge with King's Crown, on 2 lugs (one repaired)
1.8" High x 1.1" Wide - very similar in size to the standard RAMC Cap Badge
Note: Although this is a cap badge size, the Royal Air Force Medical Branch briefly wore this as their collar badge from 1918 until 1920, whilst still wearing the regular RAF Cap Badge
The design is the Crux of Ansata within a laurel wreath & surmounted by a King's Crown
The scroll at the base reads: 'NEC ASPERA TERRENT' (Nor do difficulties deter)
Provenance: Part of a large lot of badges & buttons that I bought at a BBC 'Blue Peter Appeal' auction in the 1970s
Condition: One lug repaired & badge obverse quite heavily polished
