Note: Following the outbreak of the Great War, the Willesden Volunteer Training Corps (VTC) was formed as a local defence unit in North West London, county of Middlesex, by men who were either too old to serve overseas or had essential jobs in reserved occupations
The newly formed Central Association of VTCs was officially recognised as its administrative body in November 1914 & was formally prevented from interfering with recruitment into the Regular Army. In May 1915 the VTC was organised into county regiments & by June 1915 some 2,000 individual corps had appeared, numbering 590,000 volunteers
