This unofficial 'Aug-Nov 1914' clasp slips over the 1914 Star ribbon and was manufactured post-WW1 to satisfy a demand for the ‘Mons Bar’
Rather than ex-servicemen applying to the War Office for their clasp, these facsimiles were readily available from military tailors
They were also much faster and easier to mount than the official ‘sew-on’ clasp
