In September 1914 he joined the 15th Battalion (1st Leeds Pals), West Yorkshire Regiment
Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Duke of Wellingtons Regiment (West Riding Regiment) 29/6/15
Served in India with 1st West Riding Regt from 8/3/17
Promoted Temporary Lieutenant 1/7/17
This BWM was his sole WW1 Medal entitlement
He also qualified for the GvR IGS Bar 'Afghanistan N.W.Frontier 1919' (sold in Spink Auction 21001 - Lot 203)
His Officers Papers exist at TNA but we have not checked them Ref: WO 339/33854
