Survived the first day of the Somme 1/7/16 but the following day was admitted to 14th Field Ambulance 2/7/16
Transferred to 11th Royal Warwickshire Regiment
Then suffered a Gun Shot Wound in his buttock & was admitted to No 3 Casualty Clearing Station 19/11/16
Commissioned from No.2 Officer Cadet Battalion, Cambridge as 2nd Lieutenant, 7th Norfolk Regiment 30/10/17
Wounded again during 7th Norfolk's attack through Vaux Wood on the Somme 5/9/18
Note: Erroneously recorded as 'Birrell' in the Norfolk Regimental History but is confirmed as 2nd Lieutenant Bissell in the 7th Battalion War Diary
His post-war address was Windermere, Meadow Road, Quinton, Birmingham
In September 1939 he was an Insurance Manager living at 386 Ridgeacre Lane, Birmingham
Died Birmingham 10/12/53
