To France 26/8/14 with 3rd Coldstream Guards
Suffered a Gun Shot Wound to his right arm at St.Julien 21/10/14 during the First Battle of Ypres
Note: At 7.30am on 21/10/14 the 3rd Coldstream Guards left St.Julien & advanced north-west towards a low ridge near Gravenstafel. However, their attack was checked by heavy German fire & the battalion lost 16 killed, 60 wounded plus 28 missing - over 100 men all told
Sent back to Blighty via an Ambulance Train & then on H.M.Hospital Ship 'St.David'
Returned to France 28/9/15 & served on the Western Front with 4th Coldstream Guards until 12/2/19
His medals were sent to 157 Benson Road, Byker, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
