Originally joined the 3rd East Surrey Regt (Militia) 16/1/06
To France 17/8/14 with 16th Lancers and served in the Retreat from Mons 1914
He was then in action in the Ypres, Arras & Somme sectors
In action again during the German Spring Offensive 1918 retreat, returning to Blighty in Sept 1918
Demobilised 1919 & lived at 11 Sturdy Road, Peckham, London SE
Died in Lewisham 1968
With original Regimental 1916 Christmas Card printed 'from Pte A.Wheddon 608, C Squadron,16th Lancers B.E.F.' - see photo.
With supporting documentation, including 4 pages of Militia Papers & details from the National Roll Of The Great War 1914-1918 (Volume 7; London) plus Medal Rolls.
