To France 24/12/24 & served with the Royal Field Artillery
Discharged, Termination of engagement 7/3/16
Medically examined 5/2/18 under the Military Service (Review of Exceptions) Act 1917 & his previous discharge was confirmed on the grounds of him being permanently & totally disabled for further Service
He was registered for a War Pension & his home address was 79 Fore Street, Ipswich, Suffolk
In 1933, after the woman he had been living with for the past 21 years had died, it was discovered that Ernest had been fraudulently claiming married benefits from the Ministry of Pensions under false pretences & was fined
In 1939 he was a Retired Postman living at 148 Bury Street, Stowmarket, Suffolk
Died Ipswich 1959
With copy of his Medal Index Card & full copy of the Newspaper report of his case, plus supporting research documentation
