Reverse officially numbered '156357'
Note: Designed by the Royal Mint & approved by King George VI in March 1938. Silver was chosen as a link to the silver badges & trimmings traditionally worn by the Volunteers. All badges were officially numbered, with numbers 1 and 2 being presented to the King & Queen, as Honorary Colonels of TA regiments. Issued to all Territorial Army Officers and O/Rs upon enlistment, but this ceased in 1939 when the TA was absorbed into the army. All pre-war examples have a lapel fixing & its issue was revived in 1947, when a pin-back fixing was also introduced.
