    Denis Agar Richard Kirwan, born Dublin 1878


    An H.M.S. Britannia (Training Ship) Entrant of July 1892, having been accepted for cadetship following examinations, coming 47th of 154 competitors in order of merit


    Midshipman 1894


    Promoted Sub-Lieutenant 1898 & Lieut 31/12/00


    Qualified for his AGS whilst serving on HMS Pomone 31/12/00 to 11/3/03


    Promoted Lieut-Commander 31/12/08


    Served on HMS Brilliant from 7/9/14


    Note: On 23/10/14 HMS Brilliant, together with sister ship HMS Sirius plus several sloops & destroyers, shelled German troops on the Belgian coast. On 28/10/14 HMS Brilliant was on similar duty when she was hit by German return fire, killing one of her crew and wounding several more.


    Discharged to Half Pay 6/1/15


    A few days later, on 15/1/15 he was arrested as Drunk & Disorderly at the Empire Music Hall, Leicester Square, London


    His name was subsequently removed from the Emergency List 17/2/15
