Born Lambeth, Surrey.
To France 14/8/14 as a Drummer & is entitled to the 'Aug-Nov 1914' Clasp.
Note: The 2nd South Lancs landed with 27 Officers & 980 other ranks. It went into action at Frameries on 24/8/14 and, with 2nd Lincolns, held the complete German 6th Division (III Corps) for 4 hours. Five days later the 2nd South Lancs mustered 14 Officers & 405 Other Ranks. During the First Battle of Ypres, despite reinforcements, their strength fell further & by 17/11/14 the survivors were commanded by the M.O. - their only remaining officer.
KIA F&F 25/9/15 & is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres.
