Son of Robert Grant & Margaretta Jane Grant (nee Frost)
Lived at 40 Ickburgh Road, Upper Clapton, Middlesex
Educated at Southend-on-Sea Technical College
Embarked for Gallipoli 4/11/15
Joined 2/1st (City of London) Battn, Royal Fusiliers T.F. at Suvla 4/12/15
During the Turkish bombardment of Cape Helles & just 3 days before the last troops were evacuated from Gallipoli, he fell into a shell hole & severely injured his leg 6/1/16
Then served in Egypt until 23/4/16
Transferred to the Western Front 24/4/16 until 26/5/16
Promoted Lieutenant 1/7/17
Relinquished his commission on account of ill health 17/5/19
He was entitled to the Silver War Badge
However, despite his dogged persistence & much correspondence, his gratuity claim for this 'severe & permanent' injury was resisted by the War Office until 1924
In 1919 his address was Southcliffe, 17 San Remo Parade, Westcliffe-on-Sea
Post-war he was Lieutenant, 1st Reserve Battn, London Regiment & applied to be admitted to the Freedom of the City 27/10/19
In the 1939 Register he was Director of a Public Company living at 27 Cliff Parade, Leigh-On-Sea, Essex
Died in Chelmsford, Essex 1967
