Served on HMS Exmouth 1914-15 (see image) & HMS Erin from 2/4/18 to 1919
Note: On 23/11/14 Griffiths was serving on HMS Exmouth during the bombardment of Zeebrugge, which was used by German submarines on passage from their base at Bruges. HMS Exmouth left Portland with HMS Duncan on 21/11/14, accompanied by eight destroyers & a group of trawlers, plus a pair of airships. On 23/11/14 Exmouth and Russell closed to 6,000 yards of Zeebrugge and shelled the harbour, railroad station and coastal defences, firing some 400 shells in total. Several fires were observed ashore and Dutch observers reported significant damage had been inflicted
