Wilfrid Longwood, born Hull 1897 & was educated at Wheeler Street Council School, Hull.

Emigrated to Canada in March 1914 & worked there as a carpenter.

Attested in Calgary 2/1/15 & sailed to UK with 50th CAN.INF.

To France 3/8/15 with 10th CAN.INF.

Awarded 5 days Field Punishment No.1 for being absent from parade 20/4/16.

Awarded the Military Medal LG 6/1/17 'For conspicuous bravery, fearlessness and devotion to duty. In Mouquet Farm-Courcelette Area on 26th & 27th September 1916, he repeatedly carried messages between Zollern and Battalion Headquarters under heavy barrage and machine gun fire, with apparently no thought of his own safety. '

Sentenced to further 6 days Field Punishment No.1 for being absent without leave 27/5/18

KIA F&F 28/9/18 & is buried in Haynecourt British Cemetery.

With photocopy of his MM Citation & Portrait Photo, as published in the Hull Daily Mail 18/10/18, plus set of copied CEF Service Papers & other research.
