Son of Susan Emily Terry of Hillcote, Harrismith, Orange Free State & the late Henry Alured Terry
Great grandson of Stephen Terry of Dummer House, Hampshire & was a descendant of King Henry VII
First served with the 2nd Mounted Rifles (Natal Carbineers)
Note: The 2nd Mounted Rifles were mobilized 23/8/14, then saw service in German South-West Africa & were also involved in the suppression of the Afrikaner Rebellion of 1914
Commissioned Lieut 20/8/16 (Note: erroneously listed as 'H.M.S.Terry' in the January 1918 Army List)
Served with the 2nd South African Infantry in France
KIA F&F 22/3/18 in 'D' Company during 2nd S.A.I.'s defence of Gauche Wood on the 2nd day of the German Spring Offensive
He is mentioned by name in Buchanan (p175) & commemorated on the Pozières Memorial, France
