Served on the Western Front at Ypres, then fought in the First Battle of the Scarpe, Arras 1917 & the Battle of St Quentin, March 1918
Transferred to the Indian Army 5/5/18
Served with 27th Light Cavalry (Lancers) & The Rajput Regt in the Afghan War 1919 & on the North West Frontier 1919-33
Promoted Lieutenant Colonel 1943
Retired 1947
DL 1948 & JP 1950
Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Ayr
